

He was a devoted member and deacon of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and a faithful volunteer for 20 plus years with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, where he helped build wheelchair ramps through Operation Backyard. Charlie proudly served his country and received military honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his service, he worked in communications and management for AT&T.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Lovell; his first wife, Anne Byrd Lovell; and his son, Scott Lovell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Smith Lovell; daughter, Patti (Mike) Lewis; stepdaughters, Carrie (Steve) Linebaugh and Carla Sharp; grandchildren, Marianna (Adam) Ross, Preston (Bradley) Linebaugh, Bradley (Samantha) Sharp, Matthew Linebaugh, and Daniel (Morgan) Linebaugh; and great-grandchildren, Maverick Sharp, Brystal Ross, Sawyer Ross, and Finley Ross.
Charlie will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his dedication to family and faith, and his unwavering kindness to others. Charlie was also a dedicated member and deacon at Lincoln Park Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church, Fountain City in his earlier years.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 5:00-7:00PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with a service to follow at 7:00PM. Dr. John Green and Pastor Kent Williams officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 12:45PM for a 1:00PM graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wallace Memorial Baptist Church building fund or the Knoxville Leadership Foundation.
