

Curtis David Phillips age 87, of Knoxville, passed away at home on February 22, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Wherever he went he was always showing God’s love to the people around him. His generosity, kindness, and compassion for those he loved will be missed by all those blessed to know him. Wherever he went, he was always telling a joke or a story.
He graduated from Bearden High School in 1952. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in June, 1962 after serving on board the USS Saratoga. He semi-retired from the Knoxville City Police Department in 1975. He was a longtime member of Trinity Chapel. He was a Boy Scout leader with Pack 125 and Troop 125. He completed Boy Scout Woodbadge Training SR-621. He was a jack of all trades. He loved to work on houses, cars, small and large engines.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, Epp and Anna Mae Hennegar Phillips; sisters, Hazel Phillips, Lois Thomas, Mae Townsend, Margaret Savage, Carrie (Clyde) Brantley, Josephine (Bill) Newcomb; brothers, Charles and Gene Phillips, and daughter-in-law, Patricia (Curt) Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Naomi Bross Phillips; son, Curt Phillips; daughters, Dawn (Tom) Francescon and Amy Phillips Smith; and son-in-law, Don Rines; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3rd from 5 – 6 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 6 pm. Interment will be Friday, March 4th at 10 am meeting at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy. Knoxville, TN 37920.
