Darrell Wayne Bates passed on April 23, 2026, at the age of 59. Darrell was a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a 1984 graduate of Carter High School. Darrell enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a big heart, and was always willing to help others. Darrell always had a joke or funny story to make people laugh! He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.
Darrell was preceded in death by father, Gaylord Bates. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Angela Bates; son, David (Britney) Bates; daughters, Leslie (Henry Rollen) Bates and Kellie (Allen) Cox; grandchildren, Alexis, Angela, Isabella, Killian, David, Henry and Dean; mother, Mary Bates; sister, Mary Ellen (Michael) Biehl; niece, Shannon (Bryan) Crow.
Family will receive friends Friday, May 1st from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 7pm. Graveside service will take place Saturday, May 2nd at Greenwood Cemetery, meeting at the graveside at 12:45pm for a 1pm service.
