

Davis, Edwin Walter, age 76, of North Knoxville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 after a brief illness. Ed was born in Hemingway, South Carolina and graduated from Hemingway High School where he played football. He moved to Morristown, Tennessee in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Gail. He began his career in the fire/sprinkler industry and in 1975, Ed and his partner, Walden Kitts, founded Morristown Automatic Sprinkler. Ed was a deacon at Grace Baptist Church and Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a current member at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, where he loved the Katherine Fortner Sunday School class and was involved in many charitable activities of the church. The family would like to thank Pastor Mike Boyd for his spiritual support. Ed was a past Trustee of Carson Newman College and enjoyed his time spent with the Carson Newman Athletic Director, Allan Morgan and Football Coach, Ken Sparks. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, gardening and cooking. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Jaroe Davis and Blanche Baxley Davis; sisters, Dorothy Rines Davis, Emma Davis Eaddy; brothers, Russell J., Marvin, Elbert and Rema Davis; his father and mother-in-law, Orville and Rhoda Bridges. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Wanda Gail Davis; daughter, Lisa Gail Davis; son and daughter-in-law Mark Edwin and Tina Davis; grandchildren, Brittany Kay and Lucas Edwin Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much and the dedicated employees of Morristown Sprinkler. The family would give a special thanks to the ICU nurses and physicians at Physicians Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow at 4pm; Reverend Kent Williams and Katherine Fortner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 pm Sunday at Hamblen Memory Gardens, Morristown Tennessee for an interment service.
