

George Edward Riley went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on September 10, 1933, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. George Edward was a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. George Edward was a member of Second United Methodist Church where he faithfully served as a longtime usher. He retired from Brown Appliance Parts after 42 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, George Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a very passionate about UT football and basketball.
George Edward was a loyal and faithful husband to Charlotte- their life together was full of mischief and laughter. They frequently shared impromptu road trips, making many memories.
George Edward was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara Haney; parents, Charles and Virginia Young Riley; siblings, T.W. Northern and Frances Jarnigan. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Charlotte Riley; children, Kathy (Dale) Berry, Tammy (Brad) Oxendine, Scott (Jane) Burnette, Lisa Warren, and Hank (Beth) Burnette; grandchildren, Amy (Travis) Hope, Annie (Chad) Coffin, Debbie Wells, Brandal (James) Lambert, Jennifer (Brian) Rippy, Morgan (Dallan) Reed, Alicia Carey, Stanley Murphy, Mason (Ashley) Hicks, Kristi (Blaise) Snowberg; 19 great grandchildren; blessed with several great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 12th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 7pm. Rev. Betsy Denton officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday, March 13th at 9:45am for a 10am graveside service at East TN Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, TN 37920.
