Jeff was such an inspiration in many ways. He was such a likeable person from the first time I met him. He truly cared about aspect of work. You could always count on Jeff for help or information. We would talk about cars and tools, also life stories. I feel so privileged to have known you Jeff. You will be forever in our hearts! 

I had only known Jeff about a year,  I met him after I started working at Balsam Mountain.  Even though I had only known him a short time I can say with certainty there were few more welcomed faces to show up here on Balsam Mountain.  There was nothing I asked of Jeff that he wasn't capable or willing to do.  Jeff was truly outstanding in his field.  If we could all be half as professional, knowledgeable, dedicated and kind as Jeff the world would be in much better shape.  
Also... I never thought I would ever meet anyone with a bigger 'chocolate tooth' than my own.  He will be missed.  My heart is with Michele and the rest of the Armstrong family during this time of loss.

I so wish I could have known your sweet Jeff.  What a blessing he was to so many and a God sent refuge for you. 

Your strength is so obviously seen...as gained by leaning into our Savior and Lord.  May His Spirit be continually upon you in the coming days, as Jeff's love and faith shared between the two of you continues to shine on in sweet memories and new realities. 

May the power of your commitment to emulate everything you admired most about your sweet husband......move you ...forward to serving Jesus with even greater compassion and fervor; after having known the suffering you've experienced and having been comforted with the peace promised; sent to soothe the pain and calm the fears.

Dear Michele,   I told your dad once that there seems to be a kind of closeness  to the LORD when a person is hurting beyond description and they can only weep quietly to Him, no words.  He seemed to relate to that experience.   I haven't lost my spouse, so I can't fully grasp your pain now or what you will be feeling when all the people  and the flowers are gone. I suppose the worst I ever hurt was in the loss of our baby.  There is no cure for the emptiness that will follow, but I want you to consider that from this time of yearning for the one you love, if you pour out all of your hurt upon the Lord and allow Him to touch your crushed heart, there will blossom a fellowship with the Savior that is far deeper than any joyful experience this life has to offer.  The Lord felt horrible pain in giving up His Son for humanity.  He knows more about pain and emptiness than anyone!  He  alone knows you in the innermost depths of your heart and soul, what you feel now and  in the days ahead.  I never met Jeff, but he sounds like  the kind of man who would want you to build a strong faith structure in  the empty space now in your heart. A carpenter or handi-man can't let a good space go to waste!   Weep quietly when you must, shout out a Hallelujah when you must, too!   The Lord will be your strength, as He always has been, 2 Cor. 12:10.  May God bless you as you fill up your heart with all the comfort and peace of knowing Him even more  intimately. I am very thankful and honored that I had the opportunity to get to know Jeff during my time with Nickelplate Properties. Jeff was an amazing person in every way;  always exhibited integrity, patience, respectfulness, humility, love for family, dedication to work, and profound knowledge especially when it came to maintenance. Jeff became a friend and mentor while I was at Palmetto Pointe. Every time he walked in the door to lend a helping hand I was immediately filled with immense appreciation and calmness. He loved chocolate and when I knew he was on the way, my team and I would purchase cake. This was especially for him to express our gratitude. Over time he became known as, "Superman," because he had the super power ability to research any maintenance problem, find an effective solution, and share this information with team members at work. We were able to learn and grow as individuals at work and at home. I cherished every moment I had to soak in the plethora of knowledge from Jeff and even til this day I have carried what I learned. Jeff, you will always be in my heart and mind and forever known to me as, "Superman"!

I’m so sorry for the passing of your precious Jeff. I know what a blessing the two of you were/are to each other. I’m thankful that God put the two of you together.  What a beautiful love story.

Jeff was such a calming presence. I always enjoyed working with him. I looked forward to our conversations about nothing. We could literally talk for hours. I will truly miss him.

I have known Jeff for many years, I first met him in 2003 when he was a maintenance supervisor for another property. When he came on board with nickel plate properties, it always stood out to me that he was kind of stone faced, at least in the early years, there was just not much emotion one way or the other, very even keeled. I made it my personal project to try and make Jeff laugh and I would say some of the most off-the-wall things to him, that most people would think he would not be very  receptive to, yet he surprised us all the first time we heard him start laughing and I knew right then something that Jeff didn’t (which not very many people can say) for this man was a wealth of knowledge. I knew that he was in for many more years of laughter because there wasn’t a whole lot that was off-limits and I would just burst into certain tirades when he was around and he would just chuckle. Later in the day sometimes you could catch a grin on his face and I can only hope that he was still laughing at something I had done or said. I will truly miss those days my friend and also cherish them. I can say with all honesty and conviction that this world is a worse place without you in it. Godspeed on your journey home, you finally get a much deserved rest. I love you buddy and you will be missed.      P.S. stop trying to re-engineer your wings and halo, they are perfectly fine the way they are.

Not Everyone in the world gets to say that they had the world's best Maintenance Regional Supervisor, but I'm for sure I did. 
Not only that but you were such a great example of a man. I'm truly blessed that I got to work with you side by side this past year.

I started working for Nickelplate properties only a short time ago and meant Jeff my second week here. I could tell right away that Jeff was an extremly hard worker and cared dearly about his Job. I remember having Karla's luncheon outside on the back deck and Jeff and Michelle both joining us and Michelle telling us funny stories about Jeff. I did not know Jeff for a very long time but I am glad that I got to know him! My condolences go out to all of his friends and family. 

I loved when Jeff would share his maintenance knowledge with me. In our business, the more you know about maintenance, the better off you will be.  Jeff would tell me that when he didn't know how to fix something, he would spend hours upon hours researching and teaching himself how to fix or build it to perfection. In 2020, Jeff spent quite a bit of time at our property in Clarksville, TN. We had so many AC calls that summer that he would just end up having to explain everything to me so I knew what was going on.  I learned more about HVAC that summer than I  thought I would in a lifetime. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to know Jeff. He was a man of many talents, lessons, and stories. He left footprints on all of our hearts and will be remembered with so much love and gratitude.  

Words will not wipe away your tears, and hugs may not ease the pain, but hold onto your memories  because forever they will remain. 

The Palmetto Family will truly miss you Jeff! He is and will always be our Mr. Fix it.

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff for 10 years! He was not only an amazing team member but a truly caring man. He took great pride in all he did and always went above and beyond! Michele my heart goes out to you after this sudden loss. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. 

Our family never had the honor of meeting Jeff, but we've met his amazing wife, Michelle. She is a light that shines bright for all the world to see. When a light (like she is) shines so brightly you know she is loved in abundance and loved well.  He must have been an incredible, Godly man. We are so sorry for your loss, Michelle. We send our love and are so thankful for the time God gave you here on earth with your Jeff. One day you will be together again, but for now keep shining that beautiful light for all the world to see. You are strong and courageous! And God is mighty and right by your side, always. Simply stated, a wonderful man and a blessing to have the pleasure of working with at Palmetto Pointe in Sumter SC. In the short time that I have come to know Jeff, it was always a joy to see him and talk with him  during our working relationship. 

I have nothing but the upmost respect for this gentle giant. Jeff gave me many compliments. He always made me want to do an even better job always. Palmetto Pointe can be a challenging place to work at times.  The times that Jeff was in Sumter, everyone had a sense of calm and better direction when he was there.  A term I heard many times was, "Jeff's  here!" That alone was calming. 

We shared our faith which now is more important than any job related conversation. I will truly miss him and wished we could have done more together.

In loving memory of my uncle Jeff... you was the best uncle who taught me how much fun it was to aggravate people to make them laugh and you taught me the love of Hank Williams Jr & Sr music and other country music.   You definitely had the patience with me and was always very kind to share your room when you was away.  I liked his room and bed much better than mine lol.  I made sure to make the bed up for him.  If I didn’t he would aggravate me about it.  I have mostly childhood memories as we drifted apart after his parents passed.  No matter where we ran across each other we always exchanged our I love you’s and hugged.  I was so happy for him when I learned about Michele.  He glowed when he talked about her.  I am so appreciative of her for being in his life and teaching him how to live life and put God first.  From our last conversation, without a doubt I know he was saved.  He gave a lot of credit to Michele.  She was his world.   He will always be missed and forever in my heart.  I shall see ya again someday.  Love your niece, Beverly Armstrong

I have had the distinct privilege to know Mr. Jeff not only as a colleague and mentor, but as a dear and respected friend.  Jeff exhibited the very definition of love as defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.  Jeff had to be the most patient man I know.  His well-planned days were almost always filled with “Jeff can you….,” “Jeff we need….,” Jeff, do you know how to ...,” “Jeff can you fix….,” never once did he hesitate or complain.  Regardless of what chaos might be ensuing, Jeff handled it all with his steady pace and even-keeled temperament.  I saw this demonstrated even in his marriage.  Jeff was a man of meticulous organization and structure, with a set routine.  From his notorious tools to his daily schedule.  While these traits remained true to his character, his world became so much more than the same ‘ole routine, filled with the truest level of love and commitment when he met his wife Michele.  She would be the first to tell you that misplacing a cell phone and keys were pretty routine; however, uncommon for these types of things to happen to Jeff, he strived for effective solutions and learned to embrace these moments by finding the humor in it; and he did so with so much grace.  
Jeff also demonstrated unparalleled patience in his eagerness and willingness to pass along his knowledge and skill sets.  These types of things he knew like second nature, but he would take whatever time necessary and explain everything in thorough detail, regardless of how long it took.
Most notably his cherished treasure was his wife, and he lived for her honor, and was always a true gentleman. Jeff was gentle and kind-hearted.  He always demonstrated the highest level of respect to everyone he met, regardless of position or title, and no matter what walk of life one came from.  


Jeff was a man of true, noble character and was humble to the core.  He had a love for chocolate and the simple life.  He admired his roots and enjoyed living among the rolling hills and picturesque views from his charming home.
I loved watching how the love Michele and Jeff had for one another blossomed, )I kinda had a front row seat), and it goes down in the books as one of the greatest love stories, and beats a fairy tale any day. While they were each used to 2-different worlds before they met, I enjoyed how they embraced new adventures together.  Some of my favorites include the first time Jeff flew on an airplane to go and meet Michele’s family and her getting him to take real vacations 😊  And I also remember well, when Michele experienced her first truck rally, and tractor show, which brought so much delight to Jeff!
Some of my fondest memories with Jeff include the time we had a work trip, and I got to learn so much about the foundation to his amazing work ethic.  (This man never quit!  He was always working and outworked us all), the day he showcased his new truck and how excited he was to give me a personal demo; I will never forget that our last major inspection together was in the middle of a hurricane, and how much he had impressed the inspector; and I will always remember his captivating grin, it was both mischievous and innocent all at the same time.  
I know these memories cannot compare to that of Jeff’s family and loved ones, but I hope these memories provide a small glimpse of what Jeff meant to myself and others.  He was a true one-in-a-million.  He is dearly loved and will forever be cherished.
My sincerest condolences to Michele, the Armstrong, Massie, and Bamburg families.  I continue to pray for God’s healing comfort, peace, and for His perfect love to be poured out upon you.  


It is hard to believe that Jeff is no longer here. I remember him sitting in the office beside me a Camellia Trace huffing because the computer would not do what he wanted it to do. He would then say Ashton, can you fix this for me or help me with this spreadsheet. Any time I needed him I would say Jeffrey I've got some Chocolate, and his automatic response is... What do you want?  No matter what I asked for or how much help I needed Jeff always delivered and never complained. (Well there was this ONE time we ran out of Chocolate at the office, then he complained.) I will miss him every day and I will never be able to enjoy a Hersey Bar without thinking of Jeffrey. I love you Michele and will always be here if you ever need anything!

Michele, I am so sorry that you have lost your dear Jeff, even though I did  not know him personally. I knew he was an extra special person from your posts.  I pray for peace and God holds you in his loving arms


Such a wonderful person.  I havent seen him in years. but enjoy going to school with him.  My deepest thought's & Prayers are with the Family!!

I had such an honor to be able to work with Jeff for a little bit during my time at NPP. He was always so kind and understanding. All he wanted to do was make sure our residents and team were taken care of. Michele, I love you my sweet friend. You’re in my prayers every single day.

We were surprised and saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. I came to know Jeff a couple of years ago when the maintenance team in Sumter SC needed some additional hands (not knowledge), Jeff had that covered. He was a pleasure to work with and will be missed by all who worked with him. We will certainly keep his wife, family and co-workers in our thoughts and prayers.
