John E. Rutherford, age 91, of Knoxville, passed away on November 21, 2017. Mr. Rutherford was a faithful member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church where he served in many capacities throughout his years. He retired from the City of Knoxville. For decades, Mr. Rutherford designed and made by hand, award winning Christmas displays. He also coached intramural football and basketball in the Inskip-Norwood area. Mr. Rutherford loved sports, traveling, friends and family. Preceded in death by his wife, June; brother, Avi; sisters, Elizabeth Carnes and Mary Ruth Quinton. Mr. Rutherford is survived by his nephews, Stewart Carnes (Beverly) and Michael Rutherford (Brenda); niece, Nancy Fisher and special friend, Patricia Ford.
