Mary was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She always had a smile on her face! She loved having visitors come by and would spend hours sharing stories. Whether you had been there 10 minutes or 2 hours, she always said , “Well, you ought to just stay awhile.”

Mary,
You were a wonderful mother, mamaw, and friend to everyone you met. You had a special role in my life as my mother in law for 7 years, and then as a friend and mamaw to Kendall. The last time I visited, you greeted Kendall and me with the same happy smile that started with your mouth and would then spread across your whole face. We talked for awhile, and then you started sharing stories you were still able to recall as if they had just happened. Some of the stories were ones you had shared many times over the years; some were new. It was these stories of a young girl which brought the biggest smile to your lips and a dreamy look in your eyes. You closed your eyes several times, and Kendall and I thought you were dozing off. Then suddenly you would continue your story.

I wish we had visited with each other more ...I would love to “ just stay awhile” and hear one of your stories now. However, I will always remember you the way you looked as you told that last story....smile across your whole face and a dreamy look in your eyes of a young girl. This is how I imagine your future days will always be.
With love,
Lisa
