Rev. Murray L. McClure, Jr., age 54, passed away at his home on May 4, 2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His firm belief in God and loving wife supported him in his struggle and both ultimately helped give him peace.
Murray was born to the late Murray, Sr. and Faye McClure in Chattanooga, TN on August 15, 1964. He was a faithful and devout minister of The Church of God The Gospel Assembly for 16 years. He also had a love of music and enjoyed singing for the Lord with his family. He loved his family whole heartedly and was a dedicated UT VOLS fan. He was a witty, jokester and outgoing person that never met a stranger. He will be remembered and missed dearly by all that got the privilege to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Twanna Wallace; step daughter, Shana Smith; grandson, Chance Sramek. He is survived by his wife, Rena McClure; daughters, Priscilla and Tyler Sloan, Elizabeth and Monica McClure; sons, Alex and John McClure; stepdaughter, Anita and Shane Cassell; granddaughters, Layla Smith and Hannah Cassell; brother, Ronnie and Rita McClure; nephew, Larry and Ashley Wallace and many other family and friends.
The family viewing will be at 4:00 pm and will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. The funeral will follow with Rev. Ron Oliver and Rev. Steve Pratt officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 8, 2019 and proceed to Lynnhurst Cemetery for Murray to be laid to rest.
