

ROUTH, PATSY S. – age 80 of North Knoxville, passed away on October 9 at Tennova Medical Center. Born on July 15, 1933, she was an active member of Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church for 50+ years and a leader and member of the United Methodist Women for many years. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Emerald Youth Foundation. Ms. Routh was a member of the last graduating class for Knoxville High School and retired from management with Bellsouth after 31 years service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Frank E. “Gene” Routh, her mother and father, Lois and Denzil Smith, brother Bobby Smith, sisters Billie Naumann, Dorothy Poston and Judy Grubb. She is survived by many special nieces and nephews: Lisa Coram, Curtis and Brenda Grubb, Toni Stone, Henry Naumann, Jim and Ann Poston, Donna Walker, Diane Harvey, Tim and Angie Doyle, Bill and Martha Routh, and Greg Routh, many great nieces and nephews and several very special dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 15 from 5 pm to 7 pm with a funeral service to follow officiated by Rev. Robert H. Bean and Rev. James Bailes. In lieu of flowers, her request is for memorials to be made to: Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church, 1620 N.
