Ruby Perry Evans

Ruby Perry Evans (Nicely), age 91, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 16, 1933, Ruby was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of love to all who knew her.

A charter member of Callahan Baptist Church, Ruby's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She retired from K-Mart and later dedicated herself to caring for others. Ruby found joy in nurturing her garden and had a passion for cooking, always eager to share her delicious meals with family and friends. Her warm and welcoming nature meant she never met a stranger, and she was dearly loved by everyone she encountered.

Ruby is preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Nicely; her father, Ulry Nicely; four brothers; three sisters; her husbands, Clyde Perry and Fred Evans; and stepson, Barney Evans.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Perry and Randy (wife Connie) Perry; step children, Don (wife Von) Evans, Tony (wife Ginger) Evans, Ben (wife Annie) Evans; step daughter-in-law, Debbie Evans, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Ruby’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by all who loved her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Callahan Road Baptist Church with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, Pastor Mike Patty and Dr. Jason Bowen officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:45 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 3:00 PM graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ruby's Sunday School Class.
