Velma Ruth Rider

Rider, Velma Ruth of Knoxville, formerly of Chattanooga, TN passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012. She was a resident of Northhaven Healthcare Center for the last 3 ½ years. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and doctors for their care, love and support. She was a former employee of the Holiday Inn West where she worked for over 30 years. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie May and Holger Viktor Kofr; brother William Leo Kofr; sisters, Edna May Kofr, Irene Tufarolo, Margie Maple, and Sammie Farley; daughter, Toni Tucker Martin Rowley; grandson Chad Rider. Survived by her brother Robert “Bob” Kofr and wife Clenys; daughter and son-in-law Charlyn Ailor and Bill Ailor; daughter and friend Connie Rider and Joel Burnett; daughter Brenda Darden; son and friend Ray Rider and Jeanene Fowler; and son and daughter-in-law Vic Rider and Geanine Rider; grandchildren Crystal Miller, Bryant Ailor, Shannon Darden, Lee Rider, Bailey Rider and Garrett Rider; great grandchildren Christopher Miller, Corey Darden, Abby McNutt, Aaron Welch and Kaylee Rider. Friends may call at their convenience Wednesday from 12-8pm and Thursday from 9-1:30pm at Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2pm in the Lynnhurst Cemetery.
