

Born in Silao Guanajuato on August 26, 1948, Amado was the son of Leonor Puga and Ponciano Martinez. At a very young age, Amado moved to Matamoros, where he later met his wife Julia De La Fuente and started his business establishment in Matamoros which he manned for many years. Amado and Julia started their family and soon moved to Harlingen, Texas. As a skilled worker, Amado bought his land and built his family home in Mercedes, Texas where he resided until his death.
Amado is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julia Martinez (De la Fuente), his 7 children: Janie (Raul Cortez), Aurora (Jaime Acosta), Lorena (Edward Stec), Amado Jr. (Jovanna Peña), Samuel (Marisela Martinez), Elizabeth (Joseph Podolsky), and Merari (Martin Vallejo), his 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In his life, Amado enjoyed trio Spanish guitar music, early Mexican Cinema, served as a deacon in the Baptist Church and woodworking and mechanical work.
Our family would like to thank the many nurses that helped care for our father and the family friends who took the time to visit him during his illness.
Funeral services for Amado Puga Martinez will be held at the Heavenly Grace Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas. Visiting hours are Tuesday, June 24, 2025 2pm- 10pm (prayer service at 7pm): burial Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10am.

A visitation for Amado will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A service will occur Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 7:00 PM. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM. A burial will occur Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559.
