November 4, 1923 – May 29, 2025
Carlos Ferretiz Ferretiz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 101.
Born in La Reforma, Ciudad Fernández, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, on November 4, 1923, Carlos lived a full and hardworking life. In Mexico, he traveled extensively and worked the fields before eventually making his way to the United States. He settled in Harlingen, Texas, where he continued his life working and surrounded by his loving family.
Carlos worked for ten years at Pletcher’s Plant Nursery and, even after retirement, stayed active by working alongside his son in their family lawn mowing service. Known for his strong work ethic, Carlos found joy in the simple things—taking daily walks, spending time outdoors, feeding the birds, sitting outside counting the cars and saying he was “trabajando,” and chatting with his neighbors.
He could often be seen sitting outside his apartment in Harlingen, greeting those who passed by. He was very friendly and approachable, always ready to hold a conversation.
He was a man of deep love and loyalty, especially to his family and to his cherished pet bird, Monse. Carlos is survived by his devoted wife, Luciana “Chuy” Ferretiz; his children, José Antonio Ferretiz and stepson Segundo; his daughter-in-law, Ma Ferretiz; his many grandchildren Marlena, Ernestina, Blanca, Mercedes, Julia, Juan Jr. and Eduardo; numerous great-grandchildren; and grandson-in-laws, Luis, Israel, and Carlos.
He is preceded in death by his stepson, Juan.
The family would like to thank the many providers who cared for Carlos in his later years. Their support and compassion were deeply appreciated.
Carlos will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, hardworking spirit, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the generations of family who will carry his memory forward.
