returned to the Lord on January 29, 2016,
after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on Feb 23, 1979, in
Mexico City, raised in the Rio Grande Valley, and a graduate of Santa
Rosa High School (1997). She is survived by her mother, San Juanita
Landin, four siblings, Martha (Oscar) Zuniga, Maria Alvarez, Javier
(Aja) Alvarez, and Juan Carlos Alvarez, along with several nieces,
nephews, and the many friends who loved her deeply.
Claudia spent several years in the Texas Hill Country enjoying the
tranquility and openness of the fresh country air, before returning to
the Valley to receive treatment alongside the support of her family.
She enjoyed tending to her wonderful pet birds and hosting family and
friends on any occasion. She prided herself in living a resourceful
life and showered her family and friends with her wonderful handmade
crafts, amazing food (always from scratch), and infectious laugh. She
was active in her church, always shared what she could with the less
fortunate, and happy to lend an understanding ear to anyone. She found
strength in her faith, family, friends, and her deep belief that,
although we may not always understand it, everything happens according
to God’s plan.
Claudia was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who strived to
tend to the needs of all those around her. She will be forever loved
and deeply missed.
