

Christopher Tamez, 57, of Harlingen, Texas entered into our Father’s Heavenly Kingdom on Sunday, April 19, 2026. He was a 1988 graduate of Harlingen High where he proudly represented his beloved Cardinals as #63 on the football field.
Chris was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who never wavered in his support. This loyalty was evident in his love of family, particularly his enduring devotion to his mom.
After graduation, Chris became a licensed Peace Officer graduating 7th out of 21 cadets from the 73rd Police Academy in 1993. He served the Rio Grande Valley in this capacity for 23 years which included promotions to lieutenant patrolman and acting Chief of Police for two local communities.
As a career public servant, Chris was committed to protecting and maintaining the peace and safety of property and personnel that was entrusted to him.
Chris is survived by his mother, Maria Tamez; his two brothers, Jaime (Bonnie) Tamez; Robert (Daniela) Tamez; one nephew, one niece, and one grandnephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Charles Tamez.
Visitation will be held at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559, on April 25, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary on April 25, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
