Jose F. De La Garza

Joe F De La Garza (Mike) went to be with the Lord Sunday February 28, 2016. He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Fransisco De La Garza and Felicitas Ochoa De La Garza, his brothers Luis and Lupe De La Garza and Mary Caballero De La Garza. He will be joining his family and friends. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 52 years Elma Chavez De La Garza. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. To cherish his memories he leaves two sons Joseph De La Garza (Beth), Michael De La Garza (Pat). His wonderful granddaughter Tara De La Garza who helped care for him. His grandchildren will miss their Honey as they all called him. Devin De La Garza, Michael Enriquez, Michaela De La Garza, Nicholas De La Garza and Destiny Castillo. He also leave his sisters Olga, Bertha, Aurora, Blanca, Amelia & a brother Eloy. He led a colorful life full of family and travel. He worked in the recreational vehicle industry in California in the glory days of travel that gave him lots of memories and stories. He moved to Texas and was a Building Inspector in the City of Brownsville and Harlingen as well as having his own construction company. He held many licenses as a master plumber and electrician and always shares his knowledge with his community. He spent many years in the Navy Reserve and embedded the Navy Values. His pride and joy was his mango trees, he planted and replanted many over the years and always shared them. He loved the breakfast special at Las Vegas Cafe. He enjoyed playing lotto and the dog races. Most importantly, he was a Christian Man that believed in Christ as his Savior. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Guadalupe Garza, Jaime Garza, Robert Chavez, Ramiro Chavez, Eloy De La Garza and Artemio Perez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer services at 7:00 p.m. at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Cemetery a Dignity Memorial Provider.
