It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Husband, Grandfather and Great grandfather Jose Villela on May 26, 2026, who departed this life at the age of 104. Born on June 21, 1921, to Eduardo Villela and Esperanza Otero, in San Diego De La Union, Guanajuato Mex, Jose lived a long and meaningful life rooted in love, hard work, and devotion to family.
He was married to Maria Carmen Rodriguez for 57 years, beginning their journey together on March 11, 1968, a partnership and marriage built on enduring love and mutual respect.
Jose Villela is survived by his four children: Beatriz Gonzalez (daughter) spouse Valdemar Gonzalez+ and family of Arizona, Jose Luis Villela (son) and Tony Villela (son) spouse Monica Villela, Nick Villela and Aiden Villela (grandsons) of Harlingen Texas, and Mari Grant spouse John Grant, Anne Marrrie Grant and Teresita (Granddaughters) of Californian. He had a special bond with his granddaughter Becky Pena (spouse) Noel Pena, whom he greatly loved. He is blessed with many grandchildren who will carry forward Jose’s legacy.
Jose took Great Pride instilling a strong work ethic in his children and mentoring them toward the pursuit of education and personal growth. A lover of outdoors, he was an avid landscaper and Gardner. One of his earliest jobs as a young boy was working at a nursery, and he carried out the lessons he learned there through life – bringing beauty and care to every garden he touched.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his wisdom, and the legacy of integrity and perseverance he passed on to his family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
