Maria Esther Garza

Maria Ester Garza, 96, entered into her final resting place and heavenly kingdom on February 13, 2020 in Wasilla, Alaska. Maria, born on June 15, 1924 in San Carlos Tamaulipas, Mexico, was the daughter of Manuel Leal Reyes and Dolores Teran Teran.

Maria spend her early childhood and young adult life in Mexico. She was a teacher for 6 years and also worked s short time in retail where she met her lifelong husband and love of her live, Jesus Teran Garza. Maria and Jesus married in October of 1949. Eventually they migrated to Los Indios, TX where they would raise their 6 children; Gonzalo, Ana, Jorge, Jesus, Jose, and Juan. Maria and Jesus enjoyed majority of their time at their ranch and worked in the fields and garden. Maria cherished everyday of their 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2004. Maria was devoted and faithful member of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Santa Maria Catholic Church. Maria was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and grandmother who will be missed dearly. She will forever be remembered for her harsh but loving pinches and heart of gold.

Left to cherish her memories are her surviving children; Gonzalo (Maria) Garza, Ana (Hank) Hartman, Jesus Garza, and Jose Garza. She is also survived by her sisters Patricia, Tina, and Virgina; beloved grandchildren Norrand, Henry, Rita, Vanessa, Joseph, and John; as well as her 9 great grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Jesus, children Jorge and Juan, and grandchild Orlando.

A mass will be held on Thursday March 5, 2020 at 11AM at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria, Tx. Interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest by her beloved husband, Jesus.
