Nicholas Kerby Shepherd

Born on May 3, 1954 in Kirksville, Missouri. Nick was the beloved child of Ronald and Helen Shepherd.

Nick was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather who found joy in coaching and playing sports, golfing, warm weather and beaches, and the Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength and a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to so many.

He is survived by his wife Laura of Harlingen, Texas, his brother Paul Shepherd and wife Valerie of Fisher, Illinois, his sister Rhonda Keith and husband John of Fisher, Illinois; his three sons, Josh Shepherd and wife Ashley of Fisher, Illinois, Todd Shepherd and wife Jaclyn of Ames, Iowa, Zak Shepherd and wife Melissa of Fisher, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, Allie, Addilyn, Jak, Sky and Eli; 3 great grandchildren, Grace, Elliot, and Theodore. In addition, he is survived by his children Anthony Sommer (Savana Weber) of Fisher, Illinois, Zack Thurman of Gibson City, Illinois, Nicholas Thurman Jr., Sofia Shepherd, and Noah Shepherd, all of Harlingen, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Kole, Karter and Karsen; nieces and nephews, other family members and many good friends.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Helen Shepherd.

A Celebration of Life will be held at River Valley Church of Christ in Fisher, Illinois on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m..

Though deeply missed, Nick’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
