Raul was born March 24, 1951 to Ramon & Maria Garate.
Raul served his country with the United States Army for over 45 years. Raul was active duty for 22 years and continued his service as a JROTC instructor for 25 years at Weslaco High School.
Raul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Garate; son Raul Garate Jr.; and daughter Frances Marie Robles (Julian Robles Jr.); brother Michael Garate, sisters Socorro Martinez and Christina Matta; grandsons Nathaniel Raphael Robles and Thiago Julian Robles; granddaughter Malillany Elena Robles.
Raul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
Raul was preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Maria Garate; and his brother Rafael Garate.
A visitation for Raul will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at 11:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
