

Boyce retired from The Jefferson County Public School System in 1997. He first taught biology and then worked for 25 years as a High School Guidance Counselor. In that same year he also retired from “The Mystics”, having spent 30 years as their business manager and bass guitar player.
Following his retirement he worked as a volunteer, pharmacy technician at Baptist Hospital North East, salesman at Smiser and Carter of LaGrange, co-owner of Guido’s Deli, and Adult Education Instructor for the Oldham County Board of Education. Most recently he was the founder of, and was currently working with, “Louisville’s Own Band” (the band of bands).
Boyce was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce N. Carter, Sr. and Dolla May Carter.
He is survived by his wife, whom he adored, Brenda S. Carter, sons: Bryan (Shelley), Chad (Beth), Scott (Erin), and Cambron; and five beautiful grandchildren: McKenna, Avery, Jack, Lily, and Emma; his sisters, Iris Carter and Helena Mink; and his brother, Walter Jacobs.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, September 16th at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home 311 West Jefferson St., LaGrange, Kentucky. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Tuesday, September 17th at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 North Fifth Ave., also in LaGrange, Kentucky. Burial will take place during a private ceremony at The Fairview Church Cemetery in Stanford, Kentucky.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial expressions are requested to be made to: The American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Association, or Hosparus.
