Mrs. Rutherford, Chris and Stephen: I can't begin to express my condolences for your loss. I know he would look at what his two sons have accomplished and feel confident that his legacy of family, hard work, and caring will last many generations to come. Although that may not bring solace at this time of loss, I know he is looking down at each of you from above and undoubtedly will look over you in good times and bad.

We were lucky to have Dave among our friends. And luckier to share important life moments with him. Dave, Terry, Wayne, and I were together the day our daughter, Angie, married his son, Stephen. The morning we spent at the hospital when our granddaughter, Ally, was born. Again together at the hospital when our grandson, Colin, was born. And all the times we shared watching our families grow. It was wonderful sharing "life" with David. Our hugs and our tears are with the entire Rutherford family - Sandie & Wayne Ashby

I just keep remembering the good times and occasions we were all together. Time has passed so quickly. We never got to say "Good Bye". May God's Love and Peace be upon Terry, your children and grandchildren and all those who knew and loved you David. May God Hold you in His Hands.

A man's children say a lot about a man. Stephen is one of the most caring, selfless, and genuine men I know. His love for his wife and children was learned from someone. While I don't personally know David, I know that one of the sources for learning this love is Stephen's dad. All of us at Life Journey Church send our love and sympathy in this difficult time. The first time I met my brother-in-law was dinner at Strawberry Hill. I could see he and my sister were very much in love and I thought, "Damned, I'm losing Terry to the South!"  As all can see, it worked out beautifully. David, may there be dogs and cowboy poetry and politicians to cuss at. Happy trails.
