Donna Sheryl (Smith) Doss

Donna Sheryl Smith Doss, 71, of LaGrange, KY passed peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2025, following a short illness. Donna was born Oct 28, 1953 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late William Ernest Smith and Gloria Hall Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Stephen Smith, William E. Smith II, and Vivian Smith Truxell.

Following 52 years of wonderful marriage, she is survived by her loving husband Larry Doss and two children; Brandy Doss McKinney (Warren) and Desirèe Doss, as well as four grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Ian McKinney, Erin McKinney, Rowan McKinney, and Jacques Pontbriand, all of Austin, TX. Also surviving are her sisters, Virginia Smith Freiburger (Robert) of Fort Myers, FL and Bonnie Smith Koren of Roanoke, VA; and many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews. Donna cherished her close friends in the LaGrange area and will be missed by many.

Donna graduated from William Fleming High School and was a 1973 graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, VA. Donna resided in 8 different states as she followed her husband’s 25-year military career (U.S. Coast Guard). She loved to travel, particularly anywhere near salt water. She enjoyed swimming both above and below the water and she particularly enjoyed diving in the Caribbean.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at Oakey’s Funeral Home in her hometown of Roanoke, VA on May 18th. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association.
