An avid NASCAR and Green Day fan, Ed exited from our lives very unexpectedly, with his loving wife and mother by his side.
Born August 23, 1968, Ed proudly graduated from Daymar College with his father giving him his associate’s degree diploma; was a veteran of the US Army (and an enthusiastic member of Delta Company 1st Bn 36th Infantry Spartans Ray Barracks Germany’s reunions); and was a justifiably proud father of four beautiful children.
A jack of many trades, Ed moonlighted as a camera man for Mass of the Air and various local theater groups. He also co-founded Weather 71 with Bill Bertke.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 13 years Julie; his mother Terrie; son Chris Gabis (Chera Steele); daughter Ellen Gabis; daughter Lara Gabis Kelly (Max); son Nicholas Gabis; and brother Greg Gabis.
He was preceded in death by his father Mark.
Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at First Christian Church, 403 Main Cross Street, in Taylorsville. There will be a Celebration of Ed’s Life at 4:00 with light refreshments to follow.
“Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road, time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go. So make the best of this test, and don't ask why. It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time. It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life” – “Time of Your Life” by Billie Joe Armstrong
