She was a member of LaGrange Assembly of God. Velta retired as an LPN at St. Anthony's Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her first husband of 22 years, Joseph Smiley; step-son, Phillip Smith; parents, Girlie and Anna Short.
Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Fred Smith; children, Annie Smiley, Sharron Smiley and Jeffrey Smiley; step-children, Jerry Smith (Regina) and Mark Smith (LeAnn); daughter in law, Debbie Smith; grandchildren, Donnie, Joey, Amy, Cami, John and Ann; step-grandchildren, Jay, Lyndsay, Cody, Katie, Jeremy, Trisha Shawna and Courtney; 7 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and a special friend; Donna Oldson.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, at LaGrange Assembly of God with burial to follow in Jeffersontown Cemetery. Visitation from 4-8 PM on Monday at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home and after 10 AM on Tuesday at the Church.
