Alex, I'll never forget the first time we met. You lit up the room with your bright personality and I thought someone that looked like you would never say two words to someone like me at the time, but you proved me wrong, and not only did you treat me with kindness, but you also invited me to hang out with you and your darling husband. You boosted my confidence that bullies had tried to take away from me. You also became a great friend, even though we didnt get to see each other often due to distance. This world was so lucky to be graced by your life. I know you are already making friends wherever you are now. Rest in peace, my friend. You were a bright light in this dark world.



With deepest condolences to DJ, Rhonda and all of Alex's family. From the time we met Alex we were enchanted with his personality, his beautiful smile, and amazed at his maturity. Everything he touched seemed to work, and he became a successful man doing what he enjoyed along with his beloved DJ. 
He and DJ were devoted to Mr. Jim and making sure he had everything he needed. 
I loved to hear the stories of the trips and visits that Rhonda took with Alex and his Austin family. 
A mother can only dream of having a son so devoted. If she needed him, or if he just needed some mom time, Alex drove from Austin, even if he had only one night to spend. 
He was young, but he was his own man, displaying a maturity beyond his years. 
He was a devoted and loving partner. He and DJ were an inspirational couple. 
Remember that he lives in your hearts and minds. He is always around you, watching over you. With his great sense of humor, you may find a message in the form of something left for you to find. Remember that he is waiting for you in Heaven where time stands still.

Alex and DJ worked for my cousin Jim Welborn for the better part of the last 10 years and gave him a quality of life that he would never have experienced without them.   Alex was a caregiver, coordinator, problem solver, friend, until finally he and DJ were  essentially family.   It was a pleasure to work with Alex all those years and see him blossom as a confident young man who could figure out anything that needed to be done.    He did some heavy lifting for me, and I will always be grateful for it.    DJ, you are an equal part of that relationship and I hope your heart will heal as time goes by.  And Rhonda, we also grieve for your unimaginable loss as Alex's mother.   We all will miss Alexander greatly.



My heart is connected to yours.  I love you so much, Rhonda,dear old friend. Alex is okay.  You are the one who will hurt for a while and then one day you will go forward.  But that takes time.  After Nathan died, I got a cell phone call from him. I was so depressed and really not wanting to live.  He told me, "Get up mom.  I'm okay.  Go on with your life.  I love you."



I met Alex and Dj on a Cunard cruise a couple of years ago, and we became friends.  Alex was a wonderful young man, very sensible and wise beyond his years and blessed with a wicked sense of humour and, I believe,  a bit of a prankster.  I'm proud to have known such an exceptional Human Being for such a short time, I will remember him in my Prayers.  My heartfelt condolences to DJ, his Mom and all his family and friends. I cannot believe Alex's sweet smile and greeting will never grace my counter again. No one can prepare for a loss, especially when it comes so swiftly.  Please take comfort in knowing that Alex made such a positive impact on the lives of so many.  He was a bold and fearless soul who was generous, living life to the fullest.  Just know that I am here for you, and please do not hesitate to reach out, especially during this difficult time. I will continue to pray for YHWH to bring peace and comfort to your family.  I feel blessed to have known Alex if only for a short while.

Alex and DJ made our neighborhood better just by moving in. Alex was a selfless man who never met a stranger and whose good work and deeds will be his legacy. I met Alex at RMC here in Longview he was a great guy to serve and he will be deeply missed.



This man had the biggest heart. So full alife. If you told him he could not do it he would. My prayers go to his husband and family. He was a loved man. And so goofy.
