Darlene (Dar) B. McDonald (Beaudry) passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024 after fighting and winning her second battle with lung cancer. While it was due to natural causes, her daughter would tell you that she was ready to be reunited with the love of her life, Greg McDonald. Darlene and Greg met in 1979, and Greg proposed 16 days after they first laid eyes on each other; they were inseparable until Greg’s passing in 2003.
Darlene celebrated her 70th birthday on December 11, 2023 with family and friends in her new home in the state of Texas. In 2021 Dar moved to Lakeway, TX with her daughter Katie, son-in-law Rick, and grandson Brock. She loved the weather and would often sit on the patio soaking in the Texas sun while enjoying a Coors Light (only if the mountains were blue). The highlight of her life was Brock - she enjoyed going to his football games and playing Mahjong with him on her iPad. Most weekends, Brock would convince his parents to go to her house for a sleepover where they would order pizza and watch crime shows.
Darlene grew up in Albertville, MN in a loving farm family. After graduating from St. Ben’s, she went on to work at Parker Hannifin where she had a successful 40-year career. She is survived by her loving daughter Katie (McDonald) Blaul; doting son-in-law Rick; adoring grandson Brock; sister Delores (Jerry) Roering; brother Duane (Martha) Beaudry; brother Roger (Janice) Kruschke; and multiple extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Dennis.
There will be a celebration of life on February 17, 2024 at LT Corner Pub in Lakeway, TX from 12-3 pm. On May 31, 2024 she will be laid to rest alongside Greg at Gethsemane Cemetery at 8151 N 42nd Ave, New Hope, MN 55427 - this celebration of life will honor their 44th wedding anniversary. Graveside service at 12:00 pm with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the Austin Animal Center in Texas. “We love you with all our HARTS, mama!”
