Born in Springfield, Ohio, Glenn graduated from Bowling Green State University and was a proud Sigma Chi – In Hoc Brothers! After college, Glenn served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Tokyo and Manila, as an aircraft mechanic. His business career began at IBM, which took him and the family throughout New Mexico, Texas and New England. Glenn returned to his adopted home state of Texas to work for tech companies, including VTEL and Uplink, convincing many former colleagues to join him on his journey. After retirement, Glenn helped Kane with the business she built, Furniture Brokers, which is still going strong.
Travel was one of Glenn’s passions and was the thread running through his hobbies: skiing, scuba diving, being a pilot, RVing, and planning trips. From ski vacations in Purgatory and diving in Cozumel to cross country RV tours (with many stays in Breckenridge, CO and Naples, FL) and cruises, Glenn loved to see and experience the world. When family and friends came along, so much the better!
The lake house in Kingsland became the family gathering spot, with many years of Memorial Day weekend fun, all of the kids and grandkids together for boating, swimming, always a few chores for the boys, the Indy 500 vroom vroom, and lots of food and drink. Mexican martini, anyone?
We will miss Glenn’s mischievous grin, as he declared “My body is a temple,” then dug into a plate of cheesy enchiladas or a giant apple fritter; his love of music and “all-time favorite singer” that changed weekly; his fascination with gadgets and newfangled gear of any kind; his long standing pride in all of his children, and their accomplishments large and small.
Glenn was predeceased by the love of his life, Kane, and we know those two “goons” are together again, clinking champagne glasses and firing up the RV for a tour around the galaxy. He is survived by his four children, Andrew and his wife Meghan, Chris and his wife Melanie, Ashley and her husband Clint, and Remington; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; very special friend Carolyn; and many, many friends, old and new, near and far, close and distant. We can’t forget Teeny, his beloved Yorkie!
Glenn cherished you all and his passing leaves a hole that cannot be easily filled.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed by The Wounded Warrior Project or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
