Herschell Wade Moore, age 78, of Austin TX was born to Herschell Moore and Imogene Jones Moore May 23, 1944, in Dallas TX and passed away in Lakeway TX after a lengthy illness May 12, 2023.
A proud 1962 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown TX, he was an avid fan of Lee Ganders football and faithfully followed REL track and field from the Beverly Rockhold days through the 1990s. And the Alabama Crimson Tide truly never had a more loyal fan.
Herschell graduated from Lee College in 1964 and attended the University of Houston until he was drafted into the US Army in 1966. He spent the majority of his military service at Ft. Hood as his company’s data records clerk.
In November 1967, he met his future wife, Terry Ford. They married July 1, 1968, and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this July. They were blessed with a wonderful son, Jeffrey Wade, in 1972.
Herschell was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Herschell and Imogene Moore, sister and brother-in-law Kay and Jimmy Stubblefield, great-nephew Logan Heintschel, Terry’s parents Clarence and Joyce Ford, and brother-in-law Gary Ford.
He is survived by his beloved wife Terry, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Karol Ann Moore, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Cynthia Moore, grandson and girlfriend Jacob Moore and Shannon Buergner, granddaughter and husband Audrey and Aidan Stewart and Herschell’s soon to be born great-grandson, sister-in-law Debbie Williams, and many nieces and nephews who all meant so much to him.
Herschell’s Celebration of Life is under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway TX, and will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, May 20, when sweet and fond memories of him will be shared and a catered reception will be provided.
