Scott and I lost a great neighbor and friend with the passing of Howard Bryant.  For over 20+ years he has watched over us from across the street.  Howard was slightly rough around the edges at times, but had a big heart and took care of his family, his friends and his neighbors.  He contributed much to his community, our state and our nation.  Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with his family and our neighborhood.   Scott and Teresa Spears

Was a pleasure knowing Howard for only 9 short years as a wonderful neighbor and friend. He was full of stories of which I enjoyed hearing. He will be dearly missed and will think of him every-time I pass his home.  Condolences to the family he loves so much. RIP old buddy! 

I have so many fun and grateful memories of Howard and Leigh going all the way back to when as a poor law student at UT my wife, Bonnie, and I bought the vacant lot across the street from the Bryants on Eck Ln. back in 1973.    Howard's children were all home and their house was always an action-packed adventure scene.   As Bonnie and I tried to clean up our new lot, Howard was kind enough to inform me that he and the boys had thrown all the rocks from their lot onto our lot years earlier!  Thanks a Lot!. Hah.
Over the years Howard showed me the proper way to weld, use a torch, mix concrete, lay flagstones and all sorts of construction tricks.  When the time came to build the rock fence up by the street, Howard had one of the boys bring over a giant drilling rig to dig the footers for the concrete base so the fence wouldn't lean.  He also admonished me not to build a solid rock fence because he didn't like not being able to see what was going on in my yard.  He said the Germans built those type of fences and he didn't like it one bit, so I was careful to build it in an "acceptable" manner.
So many great memories and I know the Bryant kids are all the richer for the way they were raised by Howard and Leigh.  Bless you all.

Thank you for everything you did Howard. You were a great neighbor and friend. Rest In Peace. 

Howard was a good friend to many of us at the Senior Center.  He had me and Dorothy out to his house for several parties he hosted for the neighborhood.   We also were invited to go the the  ceremony at the Nimitz museum in Fredericksburg where he was honored for his service to  his country.  Rest in peace Howard. Dance on my friend.  Sympathy to the family.

I  know what "Daddy Howard" meant to y'all & your families . . . and I am so sorry for your loss. 

Try not to spend to much time dwelling on his absence, but instead remember the good times, the funny stories, and be glad for what you had, knowing you'll see him again.

He was quite a character, to say the least, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family for a short while, and for the opportunity to get to know "Daddy Howard" personally.  I too will miss knowing he was only a short distance away . . . along with his witty antics, his precocious smile, and his words of wisdom (whether you asked for it or not). Grieving is a necessary step in healing, but remember not to let it consume your life. Shed those tears girls, but know as they fall, that your daddy knew how much you loved him.

He'll always be on your right shoulder coaching & guiding you on. Smile for him, knowing  you shared his life for a short while . . . and be glad for the future when you'll someday see him again.

I met Howard only about 4 months ago when I moved on to Hudson Bend, of which he described himself as the unofficial mayor of dating back to the 1950s. Howard was always gregarious, outgoing, friendly but hilariously curt. He reminded me so much of my own grandfather, also a WWII veteran. I did not know Howard well or for long, but he curiously had this personality that immediately drew you in. While I knew few details about his life, I saw how much and how deeply he missed his beloved wife and how proud he was of his military service. My balcony overlooks his property and he so often cruised up and down the peninsula on his quad. The point is, he will be thought of often and fondly. RIP Howard, gone but not forgotten. Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here on out.

Thank you Mr. Bryant, for befriending my parents in the '60s when they moved onto Eck Lane.  Thank you for putting in my septic tank when I moved onto Eck Lane. Thank you for watching over our neighbors and neighborhood.  You were quite the character.  We will remember your antics!

Thank you for being a friend and a great neighbor. We will miss you and your smile plus all your stories. I regret not being able to stop by for coffee since you invited us at the block party. I had your birthday party planned for the neighbors on our street to attend in January and was going to tell you then. We miss you and may you RIP.  Keep smiling down on us from heaven.  I didn’t get a chance to show you this photo I took of you in October.  I love your smile and it captures you perfectly.
