

Jim attended high school in San Marcos and went on to study at Southwest Texas State University. Jim also served his Country in the United States Air Force. He then went to Alaska and worked on the DEW Line. Upon returning to Texas, he met and married the love of his life, Minnie "Jo" Ringstaff. He retired from the City of Austin as a commercial building inspector and went on to own several businesses, including Hudson Bend Boat and Camper Storage in Austin.
Jim was a league bowler for 34 years at Dart Bowl in Austin. He also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, hunting and just spending time at his ranch in South Texas.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 58 years, Minnie Jo Chipman in July of 2017. Jim is survived by his and Jo's son James (Jimmy) A. Chipman, Jr. (Liz) of Austin; and step children, whom he loved as his own, Tommy Joe Pulatie (Mitzi) of San Saba; Richard Pulatie (Judy) of Austin and Rose M. Smith of Austin; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his much loved pets, Tara and Bitty Kitty.
Jim was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Weed-Corley-Fish, 411 RR 620, South, in Lakeway followed by funeral services at 1:00pm in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Preece Cemetery in Austin.
Pallbearers will be Cody Chipman, Tommy Pulatie, Jr., Robert Pulatie, Mitchell Pulatie, Kit Smith and Grant Leshe.
