It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Josiah Micah Long, age 23, from Spicewood, TX, on March 25, 2025. Josiah was born on September 21, 2001, in St. Augustine, Florida. Josiah spent his formative years in Gainesville, FL, from the age of one to fourteen, surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends. His childhood was vibrant and filled with enjoyable activities like roller skating, skateboarding, and achieving the prestigious Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts, all while keeping his hairstyle and fashion impeccable. He had a passion for video games, played Lacrosse and Skate Hockey, and showcased his impressive hip-hop dance skills at a local dance studio. Josiah had a deep affection for his cats and embraced the role of a big brother with immense love and responsibility. With a natural ability to connect with others, he brought happiness and laughter to everyone around him. A devoted Florida Gator fan, he also spent time volunteering at animal shelters and found joy in collecting and listening to music.
In 2016, Josiah's family relocated to Austin, TX, where his vibrant personality helped him forge deep friendships. He completed his education at Lake Travis High School in 2020, skillfully navigating the hurdles posed by the COVID pandemic. With dreams of leaving a mark in the music industry, Josiah aimed to create unforgettable moments with friends through his passion for music. During this time, he also worked in the food service industry, where his exceptional customer service skills truly stood out. Renowned for his charm and quick humor that brought joy to those around him, Josiah had a radiant smile and was an enthusiastic speaker and debater on topics he was passionate about. He was also a caring and considerate son, grandson, brother, and friend. While he loved all animals, his heart belonged especially to his pets: his cat Bingo and his dogs Bishop and Violet.
Josiah leaves behind his parents, Jennifer Long Brenner and Jose Tijerina, Jr.; stepfather Leonard Brenner; brothers Alexander Brenner (14) and Marc Tijerina (29); and his maternal grandmother, Sue Long. He will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. We are incredibly thankful for the years we shared with him, filled with his light and love. While Josiah's passing is heartbreaking, and the pain of grief will linger, his spirit and love will endure through our cherished memories.
Josiah’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Funeral Home (411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734). Visitation will commence at 1:00 p.m., followed by Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. The service will also be available virtually, please see zoom link below.
In honor of Josiah, our family wishes to allocate a portion of any contributions made toward supporting local recovery homes and resources that assist individuals on their paths to healing rather than accepting floral arrangements. The remaining funds will be channeled into local animal shelters and conservation efforts, honoring Josiah's love for animals, as well as the planting of a tree at the Texas Arboretum of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center to celebrate nature’s beauty. We welcome your input on how you'd like your contribution to be allocated. While we are grateful for the sentiment behind flowers, we gently encourage you to consider supporting these impactful causes that promote growth, strengthen communities, and celebrate life and love.
