My wife Linda and I attended the memorial service for Michelle last weekend in Chicago. It was a beautiful, moving and fitting event for such a terrific person. Thanks, Barb, Ed and Randy for such a wonderful time!

I am a high school and college friend of Michelle's.  It has been 20 years since we talked after she moved from Chicago but I still considered her a good friend all these years.  We went to Prom together for Michelle's junior year, and had so much fun as friends after that and in Madison and Chicago.   I just found out about this very recently, and it is devastating to hear. There is a whole group of Michelles college friends that are just hearing this news and we pray for Michelle and your whole family,  God bless!

My deepest condolences to Randy and Michelle's lovely family and friends. She completely changed my life forever. I remember the first day I met her, Randy, Lily, and Butchie. My immediate thoughts were, how blessed am I to have crossed paths with these amazing people. Seven years later and I still feel like the luckiest person. Randy, I am so grateful to have you, Michelle, and the kids as my family. Words can't describe her impact on my life and the true loss I am feeling, as are others. Prayers and big hugs to those missing our beautiful Michelle.

Michelle Lynn Wick passed suddenly at her home in Austin, Texas on November 14, 2018, at the age of 43 years. Michelle will be forever remembered by her husband of 10 years, Randy W. Wick, her parents – Edward & Barbara Svetlik of West Dundee, Illinois, and two step-siblings, Linda Wistar and Gary Svetlik. In addition, she leaves behind three beloved bulldogs – Lily, Weezy and Butchie. 

Michelle was born and raised in West Dundee, Illinois - where she made many wonderful friends and lasting memories. As a child and throughout her life, she enjoyed summers at her family’s vacation home on Piseco Lake, NY, where she loved to water ski. She graduated from The University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) earning degrees in Nursing and Psychology. Post-graduation, she worked at Northwestern Children’s Hospital as a neonatal intensive care nurse. After leaving Chicago for Virginia, Florida and Texas, she mostly volunteered her time to the numerous causes for which she was passionate. 

Michelle was a kind, funny, generous and beautiful person. She taught children to ride horses (a lifelong passion) and was devoted to animal rescue. She rescued many dogs from terrible situations often putting herself at risk. Bulldogs were her favorite and many that she rescued came to live with her, including those who survive her. 

Michelle truly lived life to the fullest and she would refuse to allow her passing to weigh heavy on peoples’ hearts. Thus, a celebration of her life will be held in January in Austin, TX. Michelle was my aunt and a wonderful person inside and out. She was the person that helped me learn how to tube behind Grandpa's boat at Lake Piseco. She would lay on top of the tube to cover me and make sure I was safe as I learned the ways of the water. Michelle was someone I could share my passion of horses with. I would always send her pictures and videos of the horses I was riding, as well as show her the old hand-me-downs of hers I still use today. I always made sure to visit her when I was in Florida, which wasn't often, but each time I saw her we would instantly pick back up like no time had been lost. Michelle was an amazing person and helped tremendously when my dad was sick. She was always a sounding board for me with my issues too, health or just life in general - she was always there when I needed her.

This picture is from a trip I took to Florida to visit Michelle in 2013. She was amazing to me and so thoughtful, she did everything she could on that trip to make me feel really good about myself. 

It doesn't feel real that she's gone, but I hope she is no longer in pain. I love you so much Michelle and think about you constantly. Rest In Peace, beautiful.

I am Michelle's brother-in-law. I remember how well she carried herself in 1982 at the tender age of 7 when she was the little flower girl at our wedding at the dusty Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs, NY. She  had a cast on her arm and a fever but we never knew she was having a hard time. We will miss you, Michelle!

Michelle was my aunt. I remember visiting Lake Piseco as a kid and being so impressed with her water-skiing skills. Dropping one ski, swerving in and out of the boat's wake--she made it all look effortless.  I didn't see much of her in the last few years, but when I think back I remember her bringing the same kind of effortless charm to all of her interactions. She was always warm and seemed carefree, even when she was struggling with illness. She will be missed.

Michelle was my aunt, but closer in age to me like a wiser older sister - she was always generous, kind, and warm. I have many great memories of Michelle but here are a few. She taught me to waterski at Piseco. She hosted me at her place in Chicago when I was in high school and made sure I ate amazing Chicago deep dish pizza, got me my first good adult haircut with her amazing stylist and gave me advice on boys at a crucial time.  She convinced Grandpa Ed to take us on snowmobiles and helped me not get in trouble when I landed mine in a ditch (or at least not too much trouble, Grandpa still had a few words). She did my hair and makeup for my wedding at the last minute because I didn't think to hire someone (I thought I would do it myself, she, of course, did not allow that) and remembered all the details - she arrived with a professional amount of makeup, a scarf to match my dress, and a pillow for the ring bearer which I, of course, had forgotten. I only learned later that the night before she had been in the ER with a horrible migraine, but you would never know it - she was fully focused on me and making the day special.  Later in Florida she hosted me at her and Randy's beautiful house and made sure I got the best shopping, food and manicures Boca Raton had to offer. The loss of Michelle  is unbelievable and heartbreaking. She told me recently that becoming a great aunt made her feel old, but she was far too young. We will miss her terribly. 

The picture I shared is a photo from us climbing Panther Mountain at Lake Piseco in 2015, where I spent most of my time with Michelle. 

Michelle was my younger sister.  She was a sweet endearing child who grew to be a beautiful, funny and feisty adult.  Her work as a neonatal intensive care nurse gave her the expertise to help our family through more than one medical crisis with intelligence and compassion.  I will never forget you dear Shelly. Michelle was my younger of two daughters.  She was a lovely, considerate and caring person.  She loved her horses and dogs and people in general.  I am heartbroken that she lost the fight with  LUPUS in the prime of her life.  I will love and miss her forever.  Love Dad

I have the fondest summer memories of growing up with Michelle on Piseco Lake.  Every summer I would look forward to our time together.  We definitely shared some great times, from water skiing to playing bingo or paddle boating down to Barnses.  My heart breaks for her family and I wish you all so much love and comfort during this very difficult time.  She was a beautiful person on the inside and out.  She will be missed dearly.
