
Sheila Ann Spross, age 79, passed away peacefully in Austin on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was born on September 17, 1946, in Tampa, Florida, to Junior Franklin Flynn and Helen Bernice (McCann) Flynn.
Sheila was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Fred Spross, building a life filled with love, adventure, and unforgettable memories.
Sheila was the proud and loving mother of two children, Kelly Spross, who preceded her in death, and Brian Spross. She was also a deeply adored grandmother to Elizabeth Felkers, Erin Cassity, Andrew, and Emma Spross, and a proud great-grandmother to Gideon, Levi, and Fred Felkers.
A gifted artist, Sheila owned her own small business, selling the crafts she created. She loved macramé and painting, expressing her artistic spirit through the many works over the years. Her creativity was matched only by her adventurous heart. Sheila and Fred shared a passion for travel and spent decades exploring the world together. Among their most treasured memories were the many times they spent visiting Yellowstone National Park, surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. Together, they visited 49 of the 50 United States and traveled to 14 different countries, sharing a lifetime of stories and experiences.
Sheila will be remembered for her loving spirit, artistic soul, adventurous nature, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and resting safely in God’s eternal embrace.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
