Subhadra "Leila" Ramnaraine

Subhadra "Leila" Ramnaraine, 77, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Austin, Texas, after complications from heart failure. She passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side.

Leila was born on July 26, 1947, in Uitvlugt, Guyana, to mother Seewatry and father Willie. She attended Uitvlugt Scots School. On April 14, 1963, she married Ramnaraine in Guyana, where they lived and raised six children until immigrating to Canada in 1988. In Canada, they settled in Scarborough. In 2006, she moved to Stouffville to live with one of her sons and his family. Leila dedicated herself to caring for her family and loved ones, especially through her cooking, and she was passionate about charitable giving. She also had a great sense of humor and loved shopping, always on the lookout for the best deals.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Ramesh and Naresh. Leila is survived by her brothers Suresh, Fred, and Rakesh, and sisters Simran and Sharmilla. She leaves behind six children: Nivedita (Eric), Rabindra (Jenny), Druvend (Omma), Anil (Seeta), Sandra (Michael), and Arvind (Nadia). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Christian, Jennifer, Brandon, Cory, Kaitlyn, Cera, Ashley, Chelsea, Shane, Kara, Cassidy, Joshua, Michelle, Kevin, Nathan, and Ariya, and 4 great-grandchildren: Kian, Cordelia, Emmett, and Reyna.

Leila was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and she will be deeply missed. Leila’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her warmth, humor, and zest for life will be fondly remembered by all.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Both will take place at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel, located at 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, Texas.
