Staff Sgt. Verna M. Webb, United States Air Force (Retired), passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on October 14, 1934, in Waupun, Wisconsin, to Ray and Georgiana (Krueger) Schouten.
Verna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Paul C. Webb, her parents, and her sister, Carolyn (Schouten) Landaal.
She is survived by her son, Charles E. Webb, husband Ilan Guedj; daughter, Laura (Webb) Carvalho, husband Alex; grandchildren, Michael, William and Katherine; sister-in-law Faustina (Webb) Welch, husband Marvin; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with their children and grandchildren.
She served nearly a decade on active duty, which first brought her to San Antonio in 1957. After her transfer to Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1961, she met and later married Paul, and together, they had assignments in California, Virginia, and Texas, before settling in San Antonio for good. She and Paul stayed busy in their retirement, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and visiting their many Air Force friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church (501 North St., Converse, Texas). Graveside service and interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M., with military honors.
