

Crescencio Apilado Ancheta Sr. was born on April 19, 1921, in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Timoteo Carino Ancheta and Agripina Flores Apilado. He grew up in San Manuel, Pangasinan. He obtained his secondary education in Lingayen, Pangasinan where he was presented the Brightest Junior Award in the entire Province of Pangasinan. He was orphaned at an early age; and, with the guidance of his older sister, Fructosa, he continued his college education at the Philippine College of Art & Trade, and at the Philippine Normal College, where he graduated with honors at the young age of 19. After his graduation, he utilized his teaching credentials at the Elementary School in Tondo, Manila. In his desire to further his teaching experience, here returned to his hometown where he was accepted as a full-fledged teacher to various elementary schools in San Manuel, Pangasinan. Soon after, he obtained his Master Degree in Education at National University in Manila. Over the years as the Head Teacher, he was eventually promoted to School Principal and assigned to various elementary and high schools in San Manuel. Crescencio retired from the Department of Education in the Philippines after reaching the age requirements on June 16, 1980. With Paula, his wife, already in the United States, Crescencio joined her October, 1980. With his passion in the education industry, he passed the board examination which bestowed him the credentials to teach in the United States. Soon after, he began his teaching career again in the Palmdale School District in March 1985. Crescencio finally retired due to illness in September 1986.
Crescencio was married to Paula Tolete Elegado on January 23, 1943 in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines. Our family is extremely proud and honored to have shared in the celebration of their 50th, 60th, and 68th wedding anniversaries with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends from Antelope Valley. Crescencio and Paula were blessed with 9 children; 1 deceased during infancy, 5 girls, and 3 boys. The immediate family grew to 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. In his dedication to the Lord and his commitment to assist his children in pursuing their education, they were all proudly successful and each of them were able to complete Crescencio and Paula's wish. Because of their achievement in raising his eight children to pursue their education, the Municipality of San Manuel awarded them Parents of the Year.
After retirement, he was involved in most of his grandchildren's activities. He was one of the founders and a life-time active active member of the Filipino-American Association of Antelope Valley from 1985-2018, and contributed to the framework of the FAAAV constitution and by-laws.
With his heart fulfilled, Crescencio passed away during the early hours of September 1, 2018. Crescencio is survived by his sister, Cosmena Ancheta Ferrer and her family in San Nicolas, Pangasinan; his 8 children and their spouses: Lilian (Larry Achivida) of Palmdale, CA; Wilfredo (Evelyn Vergara) of Daly City, CA; Milagros (Wilfredo Puerto) of Lancaster, CA; Zeniada (Melchor Romero) of Quartz Hill, CA; Remedios (Dominador Castroverde) of Lancaster ,CA; Gertrudes (Alexander Camello) of Lancaster, CA; Rizalino 'Noly' (Elvie Casuncad) of Quartz Hills, CA; Crescencio Jr. (Marie De la Cruz) of Lancaster, CA; and, 19 grandchildren: Ma. Lalyne (Vincent Lombardi), Lawrence, Lorrie Ann (Ashley Uy de Ong), Sharon (Jonathan Hecht), Derek (Brandie Countee), Reynoll (Rosalyn Cabrera), Anthony, Tiffany, Melvin, Michael (Mary Jo Bumanglad), Julie Ann (Dennis Alipio), Remy Rose (Miguel Martinez), Michelle (Mauricio Rivas), Annalyn, Sandra (Fernando de Guzman), Nathaniel, Nowell (Karen Bagcal), Christopher "C.J" (Jen Chon), Crescencio III "JR" (Laytayvia Jackson); and, his 26 great grandchildren, Krista, Ralph Jacob, Rianna, Isabella, Branden, Erin, Ethan, Brianna, Justin, RJ, Tristan, Angelica, MJ, Sophia Audrey Mie, Miggy, Hannah, Ian, Dominique, Desiree, JD, Joanna, Jayden, Francheska, Christian, Savannah, and Sofia Grace.
A memorial viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm and on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 from 4pm to 9pm, at Joshua Memorial Park Mortuary, 808 East Lancaster Blvd. Lancaster, CA. A memorial viewing will be held Saturday, Sept 15, 2018 at 9:30am and will be continued with the memorial mass at 10am at Saint Junipero Serra Catholic Church, 42121 50th Street West, Quartz Hill, CA. Directly following the mass will be the memorial burial service at Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery, 43121 70th Street West, Lancaster, CA.
