My Deeply Missed Husband,
The nights still are so lonely without you. Don't get me wrong I miss you round the clock, but night time is the hardest.  It's been  17 months and two days since you went home with The Lord in some ways it feels like forever, in others it still feels unreal. I miss being your wife. We were supposed to be one of those couples that died in a old folks home together. Being a widow sucks, I feel like a fish out of water sometimes. Grief stings, it leaves a constant empty spot. I would never want you to have to suffer the way you were, I yearn to be with you, healed. My assignment here is not done. So until that time comes I will keep putting my best foot forward even though it hurts like hell. I love you babe.

Hi Dennis, my friend.  I am going to try sending this message again.  I sent one about a week ago but it did not seem to get posted.  Anyway, you are so very missed and so very loved.  I watch your wife in awe, what a woman. Do you know she took motorcycle lessons and is now licensed to ride on the street?  I listen to her talk about home schooling your boys and how they are all gaining so much from it.  But, Dennis, I know Barbara and your family and friends all miss you so.  Can't wait to see you. I can't believe tomorrow will be 1 year since you left to be with the angels! I love and miss you dearly and wish that you were here to hold my hand and tell me that everything is going to be ok! I need my daddy right now but I know that you are in a better place with no suffering. There have been so many changes in this last year. Some good, some pretty painful and some pretty amazing like I'm a GiGi (grandma). You are with every single one of us during our journey of life. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you and how proud of me you would be. There's no other angel that could ever compare to you! 
Thank you for for being the best dad for me. Thank you for loving me unconditionally!! You have touched so many lives on so many different levels and have taught us all so much! I think the most important lesson that you have taught us all is to FIGHT a GOOD fight...to never give up! You were in so much pain and that didn't stop you from living! I can't believe it's been a year already since you went home. I can still hear your voice. I miss arguing with you. We're getting together on the 11th to celebrate you and share our stories. I told Becky she could ride her broom out there! We all miss you so much. I love you Dennis.

My Love, 

  It's been almost a year of leaning to live without you. There isn't a moment that goes by that I'm not thinking of you. We were one. I miss you so much. Your presence is felt here in so many things. Sometime I have to laugh because I imagine you laughing when Tommy and Davin leave the TV on one of your favorite programs, like "Man vs. Food" or "Pawn Stars". Sometimes Tommy is grumpy just like you. Davin makes certain sounds that you made.
  Tommy and Davin are in Marshall Arts now, Tommy just bumped up to a yellow belt. We prayed that day that God would pull the curtain back so you could watch.
  Our family is growing, we have 4 great grandkid's and two more on the way. 
  I still pray every night and ask God to give you a hug from  me, and wrap my arms around your pillow wishing it was you. 
  As I'm typing this I'm remembering this exact time last year, you were so sick and hurt from head to toe. It would be so selfish of me to want you to endure anymore of that kind of suffering just so I could have you. I let go of you physically but will hold you forever in my heart. I thank God for the life we shared. I love you

Dennis, although I didn't know you very well personally, you touched my life  through your wife. Any contact I had with you was always pleasant. You had a calm about you. I know you are very missed by many, especially my good friend and sponsor, your wife Barbara. One special memory I have of you is when you and Barb were having a yard sale and I came over for awhile and you were joking around with me. Dennis, you and your entire family have had an impact on my life. A couple of special moments that we shared together is the one-on-one conversation we had after the Friday Night book study and that last convention that we both attended. Each was very special to me for different reasons but neither will be forgotten.

It's been 3 months 16 hours and 47 minutes of living without you. I'm having such a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that you are now part of my past. You are still so alive in my heart. Night time is still the hardest. I'm so grateful that we knew this was coming because we did get to have some very precious time to tell each other how much we loved each other. I miss our talks, our prayers, reading books together. And yes I often wonder who "The First Five People You Met in Heaven" was, were you surprised that certain people made it, or was it the other way around? How about when you saw Jesus, were you in awe? I pray and ask God to let me dream and get a glimps of what your doing. He reminds me that we will see each other again one day and that I need to continue to trust Him. That is the hope and the promise i hold on to. I love you babe

Growing up in my recovery in SAVANA, I never met or talked to Dennis, but I know Barbara. And what I know about Barbara I can only know about Dennis as well. I have always admired Barbara for her strength and integrity...she taught me how important it is to nurture and not harm my spirit. I can only imagine that Dennis must have been as wonderful as those who knew him have shared and that he had to be special if he was married to Barbara. My heart is heavy but my faith is strong and I know that Dennis has returned to the wisdom that created him. And I am sure that Barbara will continue to be a woman of grace and dignity. My sincerest sympathy for the Long family.

This has been a weekend of firsts for me and our family. We had our first family get together at John and Gloria's, that was yesterday. Today the boys and I went to church, the cemetary and grocery shopping for the first time without you. We celebrated Addie's birthday another get together, with you missing. This still doesn't feel real to me, I keep waiting for you to come home. I miss you Hon, when you left you took a piece of my heart with you, at the same time I have so much of yours in mine because we were one. I'm so grateful for our life together. You are such a hero to me. You fought so hard, just like a soldier, you never gave up. 
I'm just kind of lost and don't know what to do with myself, everything I did, I did with you. Bedtime is the hardest. I decided to finish reading that last book we were reading together at night, Praying Circles, I've caught myself talking to your pictures and the T-shirts with your picture on them. The boy's and I ask God to give you a hug from us everynight when we pray.

Today was the most incredible display of love, loss, family, pride, gratitude, sympathy, honor, service, friendship, loyalty, etc. your family came together just as you hoped they would and I'm so proud of all them. I know you must of heard Adrianna sing for you, what courage! You both are my heros :) I love you

When I think of you, I immediately see your big smiling face and then I think of some of the funny things that you would say and both thoughts bring a smile to my face and make me laugh as well! As I read what your friends and family have written about you, I see that you followed what God wants in all of us, to love those more than we love ourselves. I think it's appropriate to have the candle burning on this page because your candle is still burning in all that knew you, you touched many people in your short time here on earth and now are in His Awesome Holy Presence and are free of pain and He is saying to you "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant!"

R.I.P. my friend! This is not a good bye but  a see you later in Heaven. I love you and i'll miss you. I'm grateful to have had you in my life for so many years.

Iam so honored and blessed that God has put you in my path of life. I will miss our little talks on the couch watching UFC, seeing you laugh, and most of all your humble heart. I know I will see you again on God's terms. I love you!!

Hello dear Friend Dennis,  Oh how we will miss you.  You have bless us so much with your loving friendship these past 13 years.  You have inspired us with your courage, your great big heart, your wonderful sense of humor, your authenticity, your faithfulness and love of God, family and friends.  Wes & I shared many years of fellowship with you and Barbara, as well as your children. I so enjoyed your humor when I wouldn't see you as I ran to get a seat in church and would hear you say, "Hey, don't you ignore me."  I would give you a hug and we would laugh. We all shared many Vineyard retreats, dining, movies.  You continued to fellowship with us after church even when your hands shook from medication and your pain was intense but you never complained.  In the hospital when you were in so much pain, you gave attention and love and never complained. In home hospice when we visited you invited us to spend the night and share breakfast in the morning, even though you were in so much pain.  We weren't able to have that meal, but we will share it with you in Heaven.  Know how much you are loved and that it is our pleasure to continue to love you, love your family and provide as much support as we are able.  See you soon!  With so much love and respect. Like I said to a few people Dennis, we cannot even comprehend the amount of Glory you are in with God...can't fathom it but somehow in my gut I know it's beyond our wildest dreams. You have a heart of gold, and all those years ago when we met and you led me to Barbara, I didn't realize the extent of your actions, but now I see it was the pure love of Jesus, flowing through you. I cannot thank you enough and everyday I will be thankful. You all allowed me to become part of your family. Thank you Dennis and Barbara for showing me what true love is and how it looks in a marriage. You are beautiful and you will be missed.

I will miss u, Dennis. But I am assured u r w/ Jesus. My fondest memory of u is being@ the marriage retreat w/Boyce, we were only 40 days married@the time, You guys have been married 4 ever compared 2 us. You were a great example 2 Boyce & myself. I remember when you became a shagger and needed a club name and we all had ideas and you chose mine "sezno" I used to call you uncle sezno cause you always said no to what ever I asked of you and then you would say yes, big tuff guy but really just a big ol' teddy bear. I love you uncle and I will miss you for so many reasons. I hope it's true what they say about you not suffering anymore cause I know you suffered for a long time R.I.P you big ol' teddy bear :)

Dennis, I remember our many times having dinner after church or New Years Eve clam chowder dinners. Good memories. You have had a long journey but haved faced it with an amazing show of faith and strength. The love and support from your family is something most people only dream of.
