Eddie Elroy Scranton, Sr. was born February 20, 1945, in Wallis, Texas to the parents of Edward and Essie Mae Scranton. To this union, Eddie was the eldest of six children. Four brothers, and one sister. From an infant until age 10 yrs. old, Eddie was raised in Wallis, Texas, by his loving grandmother Effie Scranton who taught him the ways of the Lord. As a result, Eddie accepted Christ at an early age.
His family relocated to Los Angeles, California where Eddie attended Mt. Vernon Jr. High and graduated from Los Angeles, High School.
After High School, Eddie was employed with The Department of Water and Power unit he retired in 1995 with 34 yrs. of service. Eddie also, pursued his passion of photography as a side business.
Eddie loved hunting, fishing, camping, travel, horseback riding, gardening and cooking, his wife says, "and a good cook too."
Eddie married early in life, but later married the love of his life, Dorothy Chalmers, who he nick name, "Tootsie." Together they loved to travel and enjoyed family gatherings.
Preceded in death was his parents, Edward and Essie Scranton, step brother, Howard Scranton, step son, Paul Chalmers, and brother in law, Robert Shears.
Eddie leaves to cherished, his loving wife of 33 yrs., Dorothy Scranton; one biological son, Eddie Scranton Jr., three step sons: Armond Chalmers (Maria), Allen Chalmers and Erick Chalmers. Ten grand children and one great grandson. Siblings: His one and only sister Shirley Mae Shears, four brothers: Lane Scranton, Wayne Scranton (Maggie), Christopher Scranton (Regina) and David Scranton. His sister in law, Betty Pines (Texas). A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
