

In 1956 his parents migrated to the United States. George was the oldest of two sons, his brother Richard Gutierrez was born on July 27, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. George graduated from Salesian High School. At the age of 18 he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado, among other places. He served for nearly two years as an active duty soldier during the Vietnam War. He took some College courses earning himself an Associates Degree. He was a Police Officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. A knee injury ended his Police career. After that he worked for Gears Automotive. He eventually began working for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in the Personnel Department. He then became a reprographics operator, retiring in 2016. At some point in his life, he married his first wife Patricia Valdez Gutierrez. They had one daughter and two sons together. George met the love of his life Eula R. O'Quin in 1988, while him and Patricia were separated. In 1991, his youngest daughter Crystal was born on December 12. George took care of his daughter Christine's twins for nine months. He had legal guardianship of Christine's other daughter Precious. In 2004, he had his right kidney removed due to a non-cancerous tumor until 2016, when it began to fail just before he retired. He was placed on emergency dialysis and transplant list for a kidney. George was next on the list before the Covid-19 pandemic began. He needed an aortic valve replacement to continue forward with the transplant process. In September 2021, he was hospitalized to undergo open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. He remained hospitalized for the majority of September 2021. On the road to recovery he developed two infections; a gallbladder and stomach infections. These infections entered his bloodstream, known as sepsis, which ultimately caused his death on October 7th, 2021.
George leaves behind his Domestic Partner Eula R. O'Quin, a daughter; Crystal Gutierrez, granddaughter; Precious Gutierrez, grandson-in-law; Hairo Zamora who lived with him. He also leaves behind a brother; Richard Gutierrez, three children from his first marriage to Patricia Valdez; Christine Gutierrez, George Albert Gutierrez Jr. and James (Jimmy) Gutierrez, fifteen other grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. George will be missed by family members and friends.
