Joe has been a special friend to everyone in our Punchbowl Canyon neighborhood.  He always had a wave and a happy word of welcome as I passed through his property on morning walks.  On Saturday mornings I would smell bacon cooking and hear laughter and know that Joe and one of his golfing buddies were having a special breakfast get together.  At Christmas a lighted cross on the A-frame would be all ablaze and a hayride filled with carolers would bring joy to our small world on the mountain side.  I know Joe brought words of comfort to many of his friends but he also loved to tell stories and crack jokes with all of us -- he had a gift of humor and shared it with  all of us.  A wonderful life well lived!
