Matthew Sosten Chavez

Chavez, Matthew Sosten a junior at Quartz Hill High School passed away on Sunday April 19, 2015 due to complications from pneumonia. Matthew was born on March 2, 1998 in Lancaster Calif. He was a student at Mesquite Elementary followed by Joe Walker Middle School. He was fun-loving and enjoyed laughter with family and friends. Matthew could be found engaging his friends in competitive online gaming, watching movies with his mother and sisters, and snapping photos when least expected. Although faced with adversity, Matthew conquered his challenges with courage, kindness, and love. His playful with and fun-loving spirit was infectious and created many lasting friendships. The way he lived his life is an inspiration to those who knew him. He will be missed and forever loved. Matthew is survived by his mother Jean-Marie Rideout from Lancaster Calif., his father Carlos Chavez, Tulsa, Okla., his sisters Lindsay Neilan, Lancaster, Calif., and Courtney Neilan, Los Angeles, Calif, his mathernal grandmother Jean Panettieri, Burbank, Calif., his uncle Neil Ridout, Oakland, Calif., his paternal grandparents Flora and Daniel Chavez, Colorado, his uncles Paul Chavez, Texas and Dan Chavez, New York and their families. His memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 East Lancaster Blvd. Lancaster, Calif., 93535
