Mrs. Boenzi was born on September 26, 1926 in Ashburn, GA to her parents, John Mitchell Bryant and Minnie Lee Bryant (Roland). She was the first born of three children. When Louise was only about 7 years old, her mother died during childbirth of her fourth child. Louise's father, John eventually remarried and for a period of time Louise lived with her Grandmother "Granny Lou", her Aunt Gertrude, and her Aunt Bessie.
Years later during World War II, Louise was working in the Officers Club at Fort Hunter Army Air Base in Savanna Georgia, that’s when she met Dominic Boenzi II, who was stationed there. They met at a 4th of July USO Dance in 1943. After a courtship they married on August 10th 1944 right there in Savanna Georgia. After the war was over, they moved to Chicago, IL, Dominic’s home town. They had two children, Dominic III, and Gary Steven. In 1955, Nellie was getting homesick for her family back in Georgia, so they relocated to Sycamore, GA. In 1960 they relocated once again, this time to Southern California.
She always enjoyed taking her art classes and painting, and singing with her Senior Center choir.
Nellie is survived by her two sons Dominic Boenzi III & his wife Barbara Jean (Oliver), and Gary Steven Boenzi, and her Grandchildren, April Louise, Anthony Steven, Joseph Dominic, and Nicholas Scott, and eight Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her half-sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Harrell (Bryant), Frances Wilkey (Bryant), Jimmy Bryant, Johnny Bryant & Linda Allen (Bryant). She is preceded in death by her husband, Dominic, her father & mother, John Mitchell and Minnie Lee Bryant (Roland), her step mother Minnie C. Bryant (Britt), and her brother’s Bobby C. Bryant, and Marvin J. Bryant.
