Preston Keeling Brown was born November 23, 1926 in Galveston, TX to Inez Keeling of Le Grange, TX and Preston Brown, Sr. of Opelousas, LA.  He arrived in California in 1948 with bride Mildred Poledore from Jeanerette LA whom, he married on January 3, 1948 in Houston TX. They lived in Los angeles CA where they joined a local Baptist church. Preston attended the local public schools in houston TX. He excelled in field and track at Jack Yates High school. He graduated from there before being drafted into the Navy. He traveled the world during the service, and saw places such as Japan,India abd saudia Arabia. He and his brother, Alphonne served aboard trhe same ship, the USS Salamonie. Preston was a honorable man with strong values of right and wrong, and he and Mildred raised their childred that way. He was a very talented artist and shared his joy of painting with others. He and his wife loved to travel and visited Hawaii,Bahaamas,PR,Canada,Colorado,Wyoming, and Las Vegas.Preston passed on April 20,2012 at Palmdale Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Thyresa anderson and brother Theodore. Preston is survived by loving wife Mildred, daughter, Brenda Breland, son Mike,one granddaugher Laura, sisters Jewell Brown, and  Louise Derbany, a brother Alphonse,sister in law Barbara Brown, sister in law Melvina and Otto Taylor, nephews, Charlie,Kenneth and Nathaniel Daniels;niece Linda Rubbins,niece Sonona Goins,niece Marjorie Anderson,nephew Ymiah Curtis, nephew Alphonse Brown Jr and niece Alexandra Haymes. Preston worked for Hughes aircraft for 35 years before retiring in 1989. During his tenure there he was recognized several times for outstanding job performance. Several years after retirement he and Mildred decided to look for more relaxing surroundings and relocated in Lancaster. After his retirement from Hughes , Preston was able to spend more time on his hobbies.He painted more with his favoritte medium,oil. He was a perfectionist and took great pride in his work. He could make furniture and fix almost anything. Preston will be missed. Rest in peace; Daddy.
