

Robert Sylvester Reed Sr. was born on September, 14, 1927 to the late Ola Mae and Elijah Reed in Tyler, Texas. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Robert, “Bob” attended high school in Los Angeles, CA and later joined the United States Army serving in Korea with an honorable discharge in 1954. While in the military he enjoyed cooking for the troops. He continued to cook and bake until his health declined. During his time in the military he became interested in playing the guitar; this eventually led him to form the “Bob Reed Orchestra”. Playing the blues he accompanied such artist as Etta James.
Working with his father at early age Bob learned the trade of plastering and construction which ultimately led to forming his own company, “World Plastering”. His clientele included many Hollywood celebrities. Bob was well liked by all. He always stated how blessed he was.
On December 3, 1978 Bob and Royce Herron were united in marriage and blessed with a daughter and son.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his father in-law Robert Herron, and his siblings: Bessie Wright and Floyd Shaw and his grandchildren: Jordyn and Ryan II.
His memory is cherished by his loving wife of 33 years Royce, children: Robert Jr. “Robie” (Carmen), Valerie, Dinah, Connie (Curtis), Terrence, Robin (Diana), Jamie (Victor), Raquel, and Ryan; in-laws: Myrtle Billy Ray, Gerald (Tsion), Robbin, Renita (Godfrey), and Rosalind. He will be remembered and also cherished by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
