Steven Augustus Mapp, was born on August 17, 1941 in Georgetown Guyana, South America. He was the second of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Bascil and Iris Mapp.
According to Steven’s younger brother, Colin, Steven was quite an inspiration. He was admired for being very ambitious and many nights Steven was found studying hard well beyond midnight in pursuit of his goals.
As a young man, he rode his bicycle to and from work every day, 18 miles round trip. As he flourished in his career, he eventually worked as a judge’s clerk before migrating to the United States to study abroad.
On August 18, 1967 Steven traveled to the US where he attended Lincoln University for the first two years, then transferred to Benjamin Franklyn University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. Steven held a strong belief in business ownership. He continued with his studies and graduated with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Long Island University in Brooklyn New York.
Steven was married to the former Marjorie Cleopatra Solomon for 17 years and have four children together.
His hobbies included: fishing, reading, and journaling (he faithfully wrote a journal entry daily), and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his children: Karen; Charlene; Kevin (and wife – Charlene); Janelle (and husband – Richardson); Stephanie; Siblings: Eleanor (and husband); Colin (and wife - Patsy); Grandchildren: Micaiah, Amariah, Cyrah, Kevin, and Josiah; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends.
