Bill (affectionately known as Wilco) was born on April 17, 1956, to Robert and Angela Rush at Burtonwood AFB, England. Growing up as part of an Air Force family, Bill lived in many countries/states, but his family eventually settled in Lancaster in the early 1970’s. He graduated from AV High in 1972 and began a long career in construction. He owned and operated Bill Rush Construction for many years and then became a Building Inspector through the State of California.
Bill married his wife, Edi, in 1984 and they both enjoyed raising their two children, Benjamin and Kerry. Bill was a dedicated father, devoting many hours of support as a Boy Scout Leader, Girl Scout volunteer and swim team dad. He believed that the integrity of your family name was important and worked hard to be known as an honest and moral man. Wilco was a strong Christian who believed in helping others, not as a duty, but as a privilege. He volunteered many hours using his talents as a builder on projects with Neighbors Who Care, missions work to Guatemala and helping anyone who had a need.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Edi, son Benjamin, daughter Kerry (Ryan) Longmead. He is also survived by his grandson, Asher Longmead, who loved his Papa Bill. He is survived by brothers Steve (Sue), Mike (Chris), Jim (Pati), and Ray (Robin) and sisters, Patricia, and Sharon (Dan) Foster, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Angela, brother, David, and nephew, Daniel.
A special thank you to his friends at Alexo Manor, Arnold, Jerome, Efren, and Ricky and his Best Buddies, Patricia and Inigo, for making Bill’s final days full of laughter and love.
