Albert J. McFadden

LCDR Albert J. McFadden (US Navy. Ret) LCDR Albert J. McFadden (US Navy. Ret), 88, of Las Vegas, died May 25, 2014. A fourth generation Nevadan, he was born August 4, 1925 in Tonopah, NV to Gertrude Rippingham McFadden and Albert McFadden. After a move to Las Vegas, he graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1943. He then entered the Navy. Later, he attended UN Reno and was recalled to the U.S. Navy. During his career, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Active in many national and local organizations, he was also a longtime active member of Christ Church Episcopal. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan McFadden; daughter, Gudrun M. Hanington and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marion McFadden; granddaughters Sarah Jo Hanington, Deborah Hanington and Katryn Smith; great- grandsons, Erin and Grayson, stepson N. Charles Podaras. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 Maryland Parkway, on June 18 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christ Church Episcopal Endowment Fund or the Salvation Army of Las Vegas will be greatly appreciated.
