Angel Luis Collazo, Jr “Junior”, 74 passed away on July 21, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after complications of lung cancer and renal failure with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren by his side. He was born on September 1, 1936 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. A native of Puerto Rico, he completed his education and graduated from Benjamin Harrison High School in 1957. He served in the National Guard for four years. He moved to Tucson, Arizona where he worked for the City of Tucson Sanitation Department. His love for the “Isla Del Encanto” brought him back to Puerto Rico where he began his employment with Autoridad de Energia Electridad and thus retired after 28 years of dedication to restoring and maintaining electricity to the island. He had great pride of being Puerto Rican. He also had great passion for all types of music. He loved listening to old great Latin musicians of the island, all the way up to his favorite Greek artist, Yanni. You could see his face light up and his body go to the rhythm of every instrumental beat. Junior also had a great love for dancing. Where ever there was a celebration or gathering, Junior would be there. He had such a zest for life! Though he knew he was very ill, he had great courage, faith and hope to pursue a cure. He will be sorely missed by many friends in Puerto Rico and the new friends he made in Las Vegas. His sweet smile and gracious personality will never be forgotten. His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of over 38 years, Teresita Marrero Ortiz; daughter Judy Collazo Foutch, son-in-law Alfredo G. Foutch; son Victor Rodriquez; daughter-in-law Elvia Rodriguez; grandchildren Danielle, Julian, Andre, Fredo Jr., Alexis, Niko along with his beloved brother Santiago Marrero, sister Lucy Marrero, brother-in-law Alfredo Alfonso and many nieces and nephews. He was honored to be the Godfather of Yvette Marrero and Marisol Marrero. We would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice for all your wonderful support and amazing staff while caring for our “Papi.” During this difficult time, you made it possible to keep Papi home with us so that we could surround him with love and tranquility as he peacefully went to meet with his Heavenly Father. Funeral arrangements and burial are pending and will be in Aibonito, Puerto Rico.
